Catalase is an enzyme that catalyzes the transformation of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. This enzyme functions as a natural antioxidant protecting the cell against oxidative damage. This novel high-performance catalase was purified from a psychrotolerant microorganism. As a recombinant, microbial-origin enzyme, its production is fast, sustainable and free from any animal or plant related contamination. This novel catalase is active in a wide range of temperatures, presenting high stability at room temperature and superior thermal stability over time at high temperatures. All these features make this catalase a robust and ideal candidate for research, diagnostics (clinical chemistry), and industrial applications in the food, cosmetic and textile industries.

At temperatures over 50 ºC, Swissaustral Microbial Catalase keeps 100 % of its activity. At 70 ºC it keeps over 80% of its activity, where other catalases loose more than 50% of their activity or are completely inactive.

Description
This novel high-performance catalase was originally discovered from a psychrotolerant microorganism. The recombinant version is being produced from a non-pathogenic Escherichia coli strain. This enzyme presents high activity in a wide range of temperatures from 20 to 70 ºC, and it has a high thermal stability maintaining over 50% of its activity for 7 hours at 50 ºC. As a recombinant enzyme, its production is fast, sustainable and free from any animal or plant related contamination. Swissaustral recombinant CAT is ideal for research and industrial applications.
