Selective Discovery We call our strategy “Selective Discovery”. Moving forward step-by-step, we obtain physically relevant biological results that narrow the set of microbial candidates likely to contain or produce the proposed target. Following each stage, we choose the most appropriate methods to deliver increasingly significant biological results. It is therefore a way to “zoom-in” on those microorganisms, techniques and findings that converge to the final goal. Each step implies as well a decision-point about progressing to the next step, rolling back or terminating. This keeps risk under control. Often, intermediate discoveries point to new opportunities or targets. The practicability of the “Selective Discovery” relies first of all on our proprietary collection of extremophiles, combined with our expertise in growth media design, techniques, enzymology and biocompounds. We apply this method for our R&D services as much as to our own R&D pipeline.
